Harrogate Borough Council
TIG chosen by Harrogate Borough Council to print an historic series of art books
Due to a unique windfall from the Arts Council of £1200,000, the Mercer Art Gallery have commissioned a series of 13 beautiful and historic books cataloguing their amazing collection of art. Many will be shown in the catalogue for the first time as much of the collection has remained hidden from public view.
Art historian Alex Kidson has been given the task of uncovering the treasure trove of prints and drawings. Kidson commented that ‘several factors have conditioned Harrogate’s commitment to local art. But first and foremost is Yorkshire’s richness as a hunting ground for artists; the county does rural beauty, marine life, medieval antiquities and the Industrial Revolution as well as any other and better than most.’
The books will be on sale to the public in the Mercer Art Gallery and other museums in Harrogate this year.
